SAT Essay Practice

Although a person’s past achievements can provide a valuable glimpse into their future ability to succeed, the most important indicator of future success is a person’s current motivation and integrity, their current willingness to tackle challenges and to push back their own limits.

While past accomplishment can certainly point to certain character traits that often help lead to success, such as innate talent, it cannot accurately measure their current willingness to work hard, which is the single most important factor in future accomplishment. By focusing primarily on past experience and furthering the aspirations of those who have succeeded in the past over those who have not been so successful, our society deprives itself of future leaders who, although perhaps less accomplished than their competitors with brilliant resumes and top-tier graduate degrees, nevertheless deserve equal opportunities if they are willing to work hard.

A person’s desire to further themselves through hard work can change throughout their life. So, too, should her opportunities, for past accomplishment is not a reliable indicator of current motivation. For example, a person who screws up high school shouldn't be barred from later success. If that person, perhaps in his or her 20s, decides to study hard, go to a community college, transfer to a good university, that person shouldn't be viewed as permanently incapable of valuable work just because his/her early record is less than impressive.

Final Countdown

Since this last marking period is short. There are several goal that I plan to accomplish. The goal are to bring my grades up, more community service, and finish with my junior project.

Since I got C in one class, I would plan to bring up my grade this last quarter so that I will have at least B for the final grade. This was to help at least make my grades look good for college because this is my junior years, which they may attention to grade.

Community service is one of my goal. I still have senior year to do it, but the more hour is the better. And since Im in the National Honor Society, there are the requirement to have many community service and be active. Not just for National Honor Society, This is also a requirement for college, which I need to have at least 60 hour in order to get in.

Year End Reflection

Looking back at my junior years in high school, I have improve a lot as person and as student. For instance I have become more responsibility and getting thing done before it due. The most important thing is that, I did quite a lot of community service which help me to become a better person. For senior, I would try to improve more and more even when I'm going to college.

During junior years, I have been working hard to get good grade for college and I have been become more involve with program and activity. As I get older, I learn to become more responsible and taking things for serious like the way adult are. Since I'm taking Physics class this years with a hard teacher, who teach us and prepare us for college, I become more strongly in what I'm doing. I become less lazy and start doing more works.

For senior years, I would get myself prepare for Senior Project and getting myself into college. I will try to make plan on what I try to accomplish in senior and what I should fix. For instance, myself. I would try to be more hardworking. Since in my junior, I have seem many of my friend who is a senior who have been stress out with all the work, I will try to make sure I can come in a best idea to make it easier and less stressful.

Perfectly Contents

There are people who have their own place that are perfectly content to themselves. A place or environment that are perfectly contents to me are school, park, and hospital. These places have a few thing that make it perfectly contents when I experience it.

School is a perfectly contents place to me. I saw there are so many students who are trying to get a good grade, passed all of the classes, and going to college. It make me feel like some people also have the same thought as me. It meaningful to me because I feel like everyone has the same dream, same goal, and the same thought which make us feel like we all one and we are like family to each other.

To me park is also a place where I feel satisfy and happy, and it's also a good place to go out and get some fresh air. Every time I go to park, it make me feel relax, feel like home, and where I can do what I want to do. Sometimes going to park can make me learn some new things such as how people act outside, how they treat their children, and how they spend the day. It's funny how sometimes you can relate to what you see people are doing, like you have doing that before.

And lastly I think the hospital is a place where I also feel content because by seeing someone trying to save someone else life is a really amazing thing to me. Every time I went to the hospital, it seem like a place where people can start a new life and all this nice people who are trying their best to help the other. I think starting a new life is really meaningful to me because some people don't have a chance to even live, also it will be nice if they can live a little longer with their loved one, so that is why I think hospital is a place where I feel satisfy.

Overall, school, park, and hospital is the place where I feel satisfied. Where I feel like I'm learning something new and experience something new, and also a place where I can help myself on thinking of what type of person I should be. It's a place where I can reflects on what I'm doing wrong and what I need to fix.

Behavior Plan

If I were to be the principal at Furness high school, there are many ways that I can encourage student to do more work and behave. One thing I can do is speak to them. What I would say to them is that, this is their life, this is their grade, and this is what can determine how their future look like. If they are to act like a kid and don't pay attention to the future, no one can help them and later they realize that they are the one that ruined their own future.

If I were to be the principal, I would plans more ideas to encourage students to pay attention to their teacher. One of my plan was to give student who do a good job a big prize every month because many students tend to do work to get a prize which is something that encouraged them to do more work. And every month the prize will go to those who had a good grade in front of the whole school to show to the other that this is what they can do too and this is what they can get if they doing the best to get good grade also make the future better for them later on.

If I were to be the principal, every week there will be one day that I would plan a challenge for them which is to treat them like college student, to make them see what it's like to be in college, and to show them what's going to happen after high school. The work will be harder, like make them write couple of essay which is due the next week when there will be a new challenge for them.

I agree to Mr. Riccobono idea. Giving prize is a pretty good ideas to keep student participate and many student like to be a group of something. If they were to be in the group with good student, they become popular and plus everyone want to be popular so they would try harder to stay into that group. If I were to recommend a change, it would be the group name because I think is sound a little weird but other than that the idea is perfect.

Challenging Beliefs or Ideas

One time, my friend and I have a challenge about our grades in one of our classes. My friend believe that the class that we got is easy and he will get A or B on his report cards, but I believe that he will get C or D in his report cards. We will be able to find out who would get a higher grades.

Because of this challenge we have between us, each of us study even harder. I wanted to win so bad because I don't want to be under other. I want to be better at least because I feel that if I lose, it hurt my pride. We still friend and talk to each other like we use two even when we have to go against each other. we both know that this is how it like in real life even when you have to compete  with each other.

Later on, we got the report cards and find out who win. The result was he win. From my point of view, I think that the reason he got good on his report card was because, he been study hard to win, which give him a good result. His grade got better and he win with pride.

Challenging things can be good and bad for yourself. The good thing about this challenge is that we both get to make our grade better and even get to learn that our grades use to be bad because we never really pay attention to it, but after we do this challenge, we find out what we have been missing.
